Comprehensive Assessment Process:
To ensure each participant’s safety and maximise the benefits of the programme, we require an initial biokinetics assessment followed by one or two individualised Pilates sessions. This thorough approach helps establish a strong mind-body connection – a fundamental aspect of Pilates – clarifies expectations, and minimises the risk of injury.

Diverse and Dynamic Classes:
Our classes are thoughtfully designed to vary regularly, targeting different muscle groups to promote comprehensive strength and balance. The expertise of our biokineticists in the musculoskeletal system and injury prevention informs our exercise selection, ensuring that each session is both safe and effective.

Expert-Led Instruction:
Biokineticists are healthcare professionals registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), specialising in improving individuals’ physical status and quality of life through exercise. Their extensive training in exercise therapy and rehabilitation enables them to tailor Pilates exercises to each participant’s needs, reducing the risk of injury and enhancing overall effectiveness.

Varied Equipment Utilisation:
To enrich the Pilates experience, we incorporate a variety of equipment in both individual and group sessions. Additionally, we offer a reformer for individual Pilates patients, providing a versatile tool to accommodate various fitness levels and goals.

Scope of Practice Considerations:
While Pilates is traditionally viewed as a distinct discipline, our approach aligns with the biokinetics scope of practice, which focuses on improving health through exercise. By integrating Pilates principles within a biokinetics framework, we ensure that our services adhere to professional standards and effectively contribute to our patient’s health and rehabilitation goals.

Through Pilates @ SD Inc., we strive to provide a holistic exercise experience that supports rehabilitation, enhances physical function, and promotes overall well-being.
